Professional Deck Cleaning
Outdoor decks suffer from grime, algae growth, and environmental discoloration over time. Rather than using harsh methods that risk scarring wood fibers, Dads Cleaning employs specialized cleaning solutions and gentle, low-pressure rinsing. Our process is designed to effectively lift surface dirt and light staining while preserving the wood's integrity. Please note that our services focus on cleaning and brightening; we do not provide sanding or structural repairs.

Our Professional Wood Restoration Process
- Step 1 — Wood & Coating Assessment
We inspect the deck’s visible wood condition, existing coatings, age, accessibility and buildup.
Step 2 — Surface Preparation
We prepare the area and assess surrounding plants, landscaping, fixtures, painted surfaces and materials that may need protection.
Step 3 — Professional Cleaning or Stripping
We apply suitable wood cleaning or coating-removal products based on the deck’s condition. Our process may include sodium metasilicate-based products or appropriate deck strippers when suitable.
Step 4 — Controlled Rinsing
We use appropriate rinsing techniques and carefully controlled water pressure to remove loosened residue while reducing the risk of wood damage.
Step 5 — Wood Brightening
Where appropriate, we apply a compatible oxalic acid-based wood brightener according to product requirements, followed by necessary rinsing.
Step 6 — Final Assessment
We review the completed cleaning and identify any remaining stains, coating issues, damaged boards or additional preparation needed.
Step 7 — Optional Staining or Painting
If requested, we can discuss separately quoted staining or painting services after the wood is adequately dry and prepared.
We do not provide chemical mixing ratios or suggest combining incompatible cleaning products, and we do not promise that all damaged or heavily weathered wood can be restored to a new appearance.

Deck Cleaning & Restoration FAQ
How often should I have my deck professionally cleaned?
Many decks benefit from professional cleaning every 1–3 years, depending on exposure, shade, tree cover and how quickly buildup returns. High-traffic or heavily shaded decks may need more frequent service.
Can you remove old deck stain?
We can assess and remove many compatible, deteriorated or unwanted deck coatings using suitable stripping methods. Results depend on the type of product, how many layers were applied and how long it has been on the wood. Some deep or uneven coatings may require additional preparation or may not be fully removable.
Can pressure washing damage deck boards?
Yes. Using excessive pressure or the wrong techniques can scar wood, raise the grain and leave visible marks. Our process focuses on controlled rinsing and appropriate cleaning methods to reduce the risk of damage.
